My Space!

Here are a couple pictures of my sewing room/office space! I love this room and probably spend way too much time in here... good thing the TV isn't in here! I still have a few things to add before the room is truly finished; a futon, so it can be used as a guest room as well, and a couple of cabinets for my boxes of fabric. I'm also thinking of adding a narrow shelf on the long wall for nick-nack-y things and maybe a rod or two below that for wall quilts. I also need to add some sheers or maybe mini-blinds; it feels a little too open to the outside world at night.

Big Loggies

I've been working on these big log cabin blocks for a charity quilt...somebody donated a whole bunch of these pretty floral 3" strips to my guild, so half the work was done already! I "rescued" the pink check from a pile of fabric I'm getting rid of. I'm liking it; still trying to decide if I should add green on two sides of each block...

The Jackhammer serenade continues...

and I'm about on my last nerve!!! I've got Josh Groban on and a glass of Berringer's White Zinfandel to help me chill! OK, enough griping... here's a couple of pictures of a Stack n' Whack Dresden Plate I did about 3 years ago. I only got it basted. I gave it to my Mom and Dad. Mom's got it mostly done quilting by hand. It's for her MA home. I'm giving her the Lemoyne Star S n' W for her FL home. I now have a deadline for it to be done... when the "fly south" for the winter!

The Jackhammer is NOT a musical instrument!!

But it's been playing all day next door! It's a perfect mid 70's, no humidity, breezy, Virginia day and can I open my windows to enjoy it?? NO!! I'm so aggravated with these neighbors... they've been there about three years they've done nothing to improve their property. Every "improvement" they've made has been superficial, as the wood rots and the gutters fall off! and now he's jackhammering for a parking pad/patio??? The whole back yard is graveled, the house is an ugly yellow with dk green trim (except for around a couple of windows... that's still brown). Currently there's a VW bus, a big motor home, a boat, and an army trailer and his work truck on the grass and in the driveway (plus a Suburban and a car in the garage!). I almost forgot... there's a small tractor there too. The motor home and boat haven't been off the property since they moved in. And in the meantime, we've added a screened in porch and oversized garage, new roof, siding and windows, and our other-side neighbors added a gorgeous screened porch so they can enjoy the graveled back yard view!!! ARG!!! This is in a nice, gated community with codes and restrictions and I know for a fact that there have been complaints filed about their property, yet nothing's been done. Thank God we're not trying to sell....

My Bike Dude

This is my DS David. When he's not wearing the funky helmet, he wears the Green Beret of the Army Special Forces. He graduated in March from SF training, and will soon be on his first assignment overseas.

Easter pics

Here are a couple of pictures from Easter. My dear Mom and Dad and my sweet Hubby and me... I'm so blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life!

Tic Tic Tic

It's that lovely time year, and I've got a dog that attracts tics!! Never had that problem with Brandy... in 16 years I only ever remember one tic and no fleas. She had very greasy feeling skin and I guess the little boogers weren't attracted to her. I think it's going to be a different story with Penny!
