Persnickety Blogger....

It's taken several attempts to get these two pics to load; I had several more I wanted to add, but I guess they'll be for another day! The first is of Jan and her Minnesota Hotdish from our weekend at Nancy's, and the second pic is of the birthday girl and the sampler the Sew n' Sews made for her 50th birthday. Didn't sew at all today; wasn't feeling so great after work, so I took a nap We bowled this evening; the days sure go by fast! It's snowing right now; hard to believe it was almost 90 just a week ago!

A few pictures

Blogger let me add a few pictures... I did remember to load them in reverse order, but I don't know the order they'll show up in once I've added this text. Hopefully, my descriptions will have you looking at the right picture! The dark blue floral and beige blocks are part of the mystery quilt. I've been working on the snowball blocks today. I'm hoping to have this one pieced and out to a quilter by next Monday. I intend to give this one to my DB and DSIL for their 25th anniversary in April.
The next "block" is the fabrics I had to play with last month for my round robin group. I can't post the actual blocks, because the members have this blog address and I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise ahead of time.

The stars are from my Lemoyne stack n' whack class at the quilt in on Saturday... I see several more S n' W's in my future! I love the kaleidescope effect they create. And last, but not least, is the table runner, sitting on my new table! My DH put the chairs together while I was at the quilt-in on Saturday. The runner fits perfectly! Total fluke on that one, but a small joy nonetheless! I'll try to get more pics posted tomorrow...my mouse needs to be charged! TTFN!!

A month of Sundays and then some...

Well, it's been quite a while since I've updated this thing...busy, busy, busy!! President's Day weekend found me in Minnesnowta, with my quilting friends, Debbie, Robin, Jan and Nancy (we were hosted by Nancy at her home). We did the Minnesota Hotdish pattern. I did the chain version; I still have to make the piano key border for it. Jan got her top finished that weekend. Debbie had a problem with hers, so we renamed it South Carolina Potluck; it's still very pretty!
The next weekend was spent in South Carolina at Hickory Knob State Park with the Sew n' Sews. It was a very special weekend, as it was Debbie's 50th birthday! We had been plotting and planning a quilting cruise theme, and it came as a total surprise to her. (even her DH and mom knew about it, but nobody spilled the beans!) You can read all about that weekend on her blog at www.jubileejunction.blogspot.com We traded green strips to make "Simply De-Vine", a tulip quilt, from Quiltmaker magazine 2002. I didn't get much accomplished that weekend. I only got the pieces cut out. In the meantime, I completed the blocks for my round-robin group, made a block for the President's quilt for my guild, did the block of the month (box kite) for guild (sure hope I win this one; it's so bright and happy!), and prepped for my two classes and the mystery quilt for my guild quilt-in. That was yesterday. On Friday DH and I were in North Carolina for our DS's Special Forces graduation. We're very proud of him; only 25% of all the guys who try out for SF make it thru the rigorous training.
My classes for the quilt-in were Lemoyne Star stack n' whack, and a table runner using stash.
I was able to complete the table runner top during the class; it's a little wonky, but I think I can get it to lay flat with a good pressing. I only got one Lemoyne star made, and I think it will be very pretty. I used a pansy fabric with a black background. We got the instructions for the last piece of the mystery quilt; a snowball block. The setting for the quilt is really cool; it's divided diagonally with the dark part on the left/bottom half of the diagonal and the light part on the right/top half of the diagonal. I'll be sure to post pics, once blogger lets me; I don't seem to be able to get any pics to load right now. It's good to be back! Hope you all are having fun on all your projects!!
